HealthBridge for Unity
HealthBridge connects Unity games and apps to Apple HealthKit and Android Health Connect through one C# API. Build health-data features with permission setup tools and mock data inside the Unity editor.

Health data for iOS and Android Unity projects
Use HealthBridge to read steps, heart rate, sleep, distance, workouts, and other supported health records. Write supported samples and complete workouts, with provider capabilities indicating which operations are available on each platform.
The SDK uses async C# APIs and Unity events. Apple HealthKit supplies health data on iOS, Android Health Connect supplies it on Android, and an editor mock provider supports development without a phone.
How to integrate health data in Unity
- Install the HealthBridge base SDK, then open
Window > HealthBridge > Setup Wizard. - Create a
HealthBridgeSettingsasset and choose the health-data types your feature needs to read or write. - Use
HealthBridgeInitializerfor Android builds. Use the documented iOS and editor initialization paths for those providers. - Request permissions, then use
HealthBridgeServiceto access supported data andHealthBridgeEventsfor updates. - Test your gameplay with editor mock data, then verify permissions and real health records on physical iOS and Android devices.
HealthKit and Health Connect permissions
Read and write permissions are separate. Request only the types your app uses and explain the purpose in its platform permission text. On Android, the required Health Connect permissions must also be present in the generated manifest.
HealthKit does not reveal whether a user denied an individual read permission. An empty result can therefore occur after initialization succeeds. Build your Unity UI to handle missing data and unavailable provider capabilities.
Build Unity fitness games and health-data features
- Use step and distance records to inform movement-based progression.
- Import completed workouts for activity challenges and player summaries.
- Develop health-data UI with predictable mock records before testing on a device.
Common integration questions
Can I test HealthKit in the Unity editor?
You can test application behavior with the editor mock provider. Real HealthKit authorization and data access require a physical Apple device.
Does the base SDK include live Apple Watch or Wear OS sessions?
The base SDK supports health-record heart-rate monitoring. Live BPM streaming from HealthBridge-owned Apple Watch and Wear OS companion sessions uses the optional realtime heart-rate add-on. It does not promise live access to sessions owned by other apps.
Where do I find the API and setup instructions?
Read the HealthBridge Unity documentation for installation, initialization, permission configuration, and API usage.
